Switzerland: Retail sales slow in April
Latest reading: Retail sales increased 0.1% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in April, following a 0.3% rise in the prior month.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, the reading for automotive fuel softened in April (-5.1% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms vs +1.5% in March). In contrast, readings improved for food, beverages, and tobacco (+0.6% vs +0.3% in March) and household equipment (+2.9% vs -0.9% in March).
On a calendar-adjusted year-on-year basis, retail sales increased 1.6% in April, following a 1.3% increase in the prior month.
