Switzerland: Retail sales dip in March
Retail sales declined 0.4% in month-on-month seasonally adjusted terms in March, which contrasted February’s 0.1% increase.
On an annual basis, retail sales fell 0.1% in March (February: +0.2% yoy).
Taking the retail sales data over Q1 as a whole shows that spending was higher than in Q4, which is in line with our panelists’ projections for ongoing solid quarter-on-quarter private consumption growth in Q1.
