Switzerland: Decline in retail sales softens in September
Retail sales dropped 0.6% year on year in calendar-adjusted terms in September, which was above August’s 2.2% decrease. The smaller contraction came on the back of an improvement in food, beverages, and tobacco and culture and recreation goods sales.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail sales rose at a faster rate of 0.8% in September (August: +0.3% mom). Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of retail sales coming in at minus 1.9%, down from August’s minus 1.7%.
