Switzerland: KOF Economic Barometer moderates in May
The KOF Economic Barometer came in at 96.8 in May, down from April’s 103.0. May’s result marked the weakest figure since January 2021. As a result, the index moved below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a fairly muted near-term outlook for the Swiss economy.
May’s softer reading was driven by a broad-based downturn, with only indicators for the financial and insurance services sector and for foreign demand remaining stable.
