Sweden: Economic sentiment decreases in December
Economic sentiment came in at 82.3 in December, down from November’s 82.8. As a result, the index remained entrenched below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected deteriorating sentiment in the industrial sector. More positively, sentiment in the construction sector strengthened. Additionally, sentiment in the services sector was less pessimistic in December and confidence in the retail sector improved in the surveyed month. Finally, consumer confidence improved in December.
Relating to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index fell in December.
