South Africa: Inflation increases in March

Consumer prices increased 0.68% over the previous month in March, mirroring February’s reading. Looking at the details of the release, prices for housing and utilities fell in March, while prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages as well for transportation rose.

Inflation came in at 3.2% in March, following February’s 2.9%.. Annual average inflation fell to 2.9% in March (February: 3.0%). Core inflation came in at 2.5% in March from the previous month’s 2.6% increase.
