Slovakia: Inflation remains stable in August
September 12, 2012
In August, consumer prices expanded 0.1% over the previous month, which was above the flat reading recorded in July. The monthly print mainly reflected strong increases in the health as well as in the transport categories, which were partially offset by lower prices for clothing and footwear as well as for food and non-alcoholic beverages. Annual headline inflation remained stable at July's 3.7%. Meanwhile, annual average HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) remained unchanged at July's 4.1%. The Central Bank expects annual average HICP inflation to reach 3.5% in 2012 before moderating to 1.7% in 2013.
