Slovakia: Inflation comes in at highest level since October 2012 in August
Consumer prices rose 0.38% in August over the previous month, a smaller increase than the 0.50% rise seen in July. August’s result marked the softest rise in prices since April. The cooling of price pressures was largely driven by lower prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages. In addition, prices for health grew at a more subdued pace.
Inflation came in at 3.8% in August, which was up from July’s 3.3%. August’s figure represented the highest inflation rate since October 2012. Annual average inflation edged up to 1.9% in August (July: 1.7%). Finally, harmonized inflation rose to 3.3% in August, from the previous month’s 2.9%.
