Slovakia: Harmonized inflation drops to lowest level in over two years in February
Harmonized inflation came in at 3.8% in February, which was down from January’s 4.4%. February’s result marked the lowest inflation rate since August 2021, but was still markedly above the Euro area average of 2.6%. Looking at the details of the release, the moderation reflected cooling price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages, and for hospitality. That said, prices for transportation grew at a faster pace.
Annual average harmonized inflation fell to 9.2% in February (January: 10.2%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 3.4% in February, from the previous month’s 3.9%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.57% from the previous month in February, coming in below January’s 0.76% increase.
