Romania: Inflation rises to near 13-year high in February
Consumer prices increased a seasonally-adjusted 0.58% in February over the previous month, easing from January’s 1.48% rise. Looking at the details of the release, prices for non-food items declined in February, while services prices rose at a softer pace. Contrastingly, food price inflation accelerated in the month.
Inflation inched up to 8.5% in February, following January’s 8.3% and representing the highest inflation rate since July 2009. Meanwhile, the trend pointed up, with annual average inflation coming in at 5.9% in February (January: 5.5%).
