Romania: Industrial output dips in May
Industrial output decreased 5.2% year on year in May (April: -5.0% yoy). May’s weakening was driven by a sharper deterioration in energy production. That said, manufacturing activity contracted at a smaller pace while mining output growth accelerated.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production fell 0.9% in May (April: -1.2% mom s.a.). Meanwhile, the trend worsened, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 3.0% in May, down from April’s minus 2.5%.
