Romania: Industrial output dips in April
Industrial output decreased 4.7% year on year in April (March: -3.6% yoy). April’s weakening was partly driven by a deterioration in manufacturing production, as it recorded the weakest reading since April 2022. In addition, mining and quarrying output decelerated. That said, the energy sector contracted at a softer pace.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production fell 0.8% in April (March: +0.1% mom). Meanwhile, the trend improved modestly, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 2.5% in April, up from March’s minus 2.7%.
