Romania: Decline in industrial activity softens in December
Industrial output declined 2.3% compared to the same month a year earlier in December, which was a smaller drop than November’s 4.1% decrease. December’s figure marked the best reading since October 2022. December’s improvement was largely driven by a softer drop in manufacturing output. In contrast, mining and quarrying output fell.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output rebounded, rising 0.3% in December (November: -0.3% mom). Meanwhile, the trend improved, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 4.7%, up from November’s minus 5.0%.
