Romania: Economic sentiment rises further above neutral threshold in August
Economic sentiment gained traction, reaching 104.1 in August, up from July’s 102.6. As a result, the index remained above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected stronger sentiment among consumers plus in the industrial and construction sectors. Additionally, confidence in the services sector improved. Meanwhile, confidence in the retail sector cooled in the surveyed month.
Relating to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations deteriorated, while the economic uncertainty index improved in August.
