Portugal: Harmonized inflation falls to over one-year low in April
Harmonized inflation came in at 6.9% in April, which was down from March’s 8.0%. April’s figure marked the lowest inflation rate since March 2022. The moderation was broad-based, with reduced price pressures recorded for food and non-alcoholic beverages, transportation, and housing and utilities.
In addition, the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 9.0% in April (March: 9.1%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 5.7% in April, from March’s 7.4%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices increased 1.29% from the previous month in April, below the 2.01% increase logged in March.
