Poland: Inflation falls to lowest level since September 2021 in December
Inflation fell to 6.1% in December, easing from November’s 6.6%. December’s figure represented the weakest inflation rate since September 2021. Looking at the details of the release, prices for fuels for personal transport equipment fell at sharper pace in December than in the previous month, while price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages eased.
Annual average inflation fell to 11.6% in December (November: 12.4%).
Finally, consumer prices increased 0.10% in December over the previous month, slowing from November’s 0.70% increase.
Commenting on the outlook, Adam Antoniak, economist at ING, stated:
“Disinflation will continue in the first quarter but the outlook for the remainder of the year is highly uncertain and dependent on administrative and fiscal decisions. The MPC is expected to remain in wait-and-see mode at least until March.”
