Poland: Decline in industrial activity softens in May
Industrial output dropped 3.2% year on year in May (April: -6.0% yoy). Looking at the details of the release, May’s softer drop was broad-based, with the mining and quarrying, manufacturing and electricity, gas and utilities sub-sectors all improving.
On a monthly basis, industrial production fell 0.9% in seasonally adjusted terms in May, moderating from April’s 1.6% fall. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 9.3%, down from April’s minus 9.0% reading.
