Poland: Business confidence improves in August, but remains in pessimistic territory
Business confidence came in at minus 0.9 in August, improving somewhat from minus 1.4 in July. That said, the index remained below the 0-threshold, separating pessimism from optimism among businesses.
August’s improvement was largely attributed to firms’ brighter assessment of the current economic situation. However, their appraisal of current orderbooks, production and their own financial situation grew more pessimistic. With regards to expectations, businesses turned less negative over future production as well as the future general economic situation, while expectations over orderbooks and employment turned bleaker compared to the prior month.
