Peru: Merchandise trade surplus shrinks in April
Latest reading: In April, the trade balance was USD +3.3 billion, following a USD +4.2 billion reading in the previous month. This was the smallest surplus since August 2025. Over the last 12 months, the trade balance summed to USD +43.0 billion.
Merchandise exports were up 51.1% in year-on-year terms in April, coming on the back of a 38.4% increase in the previous month. Merchandise imports increased 34.0% in year-on-year terms in April, following a 21.9% increase in the previous month. April’s reading was the strongest since September 2021.
