Peru: Inflation jumps in March
Consumer prices jumped 1.48% in March over the previous month, accelerating from February’s 0.31% increase. February’s reading was the eleventh consecutive month of rising prices and was predominantly driven by notable increases in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, education and transports.
Inflation came in at 6.8% in March, which was up from February’s 6.1% and marked the highest reading since August 1998. Concurrently, annual average inflation rose to 4.9% in March (February: 4.5%), while core inflation rose to 4.6% in March, from February’s 4.2%.
