Peru: Economic activity accelerates in June
In June, economic activity grew 2.6% year-on-year, above May’s 0.6% lackluster outturn. Therefore, national production in January–June inched up to 1.7% from 1.5% in January–May.
Growth came on the back of healthy consumer spending and lending growth. In terms of productive sectors, expansions were recorded in the construction, commerce, telecommunications, transport and manufacturing. On the other hand, contractions were registered in the mining and fishing sectors.
Meanwhile, the annual average variation in economic activity edged up to 2.6% in June, from 2.5% the previous month, which had marked the worst result in over a year.
