Peru: Business confidence index steady in February
Business confidence was unchanged at January’s 44.5 in February, marking the joint-highest reading since May 2021. Nevertheless, the index remained entrenched below the 50-threshold for the eleventh month running, and thus indicated continued pessimism among businesses.
The stable reading came despite a broad-based uptick in most sub-sectors in February. Looking at the details, firms’ views regarding their sector, future demand for their products, their company’s situation, the employment situation, and investment in their firms all rose this month. However, the majority still remained in pessimistic territory.
