Mexico: Inflation remains stable in December
Consumer prices rose 0.36% from the previous month in December, which was below the 1.14% increase recorded in November. December’s result marked the weakest reading since August. The cooling of price pressures was primarily driven by a more moderate rise in prices for food, beverages and tobacco. In addition, price pressures for housing dropped.
Inflation held steady at November’s 7.4% in December, well above the Central Bank’s 3.0% target. Annual average inflation rose to 5.7% in December (November: 5.3%). Finally, core inflation rose to 5.9% in December, from November’s 5.7%.
