Mexico: Economic activity contracts in July
The monthly indicator for economic activity (IGAE) contracted 0.1% in seasonally-adjusted, month-on-month terms in July, contrasting June’s 0.2% uptick.
July’s slip was largely driven by contractions in the industrial and services sectors, although a strong rebound in primary sector activity somewhat offset the fall.
On a year-on-year basis, economic activity rose 0.3% in July, rebounding from June’s 0.9% dip. Lastly, annual average growth came in at 0.8%, slightly below June’s 1.0%.
