Malaysia: Merchandise trade surplus shrinks in June
Latest reading: In June, the trade balance was USD +3.7 billion, following a USD +10.1 billion reading in the previous month. This was the smallest surplus since November 2025. Over the last 12 months, the trade balance summed to USD +61.0 billion.
Merchandise exports rose 51.6% in annual terms in June, coming on the back of a 56.2% increase in the prior month. Merchandise imports rose 50.0% in year-on-year terms in June, coming on the back of 23.5% growth in the previous month. June’s reading was the strongest since August 2022.
