Malaysia: Inflation weakens in November
Consumer prices increased 0.1% over the prior month in November, following 0.2% rise in October. Higher prices for housing and utilities, and health offset unchanged prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages; transport; and communication.
Inflation ticked down to 0.9% in November from 1.1% in October. On the other hand, core inflation was stable at 1.4% in November. Meanwhile, annual average inflation edged up to 0.6% in November from 0.5%. Going forward, price pressures should build due in part to the weakening of the ringgit so far this year, the Bank’s recent monetary easing and robust domestic demand.
