Malaysia: Industrial output wanes in August
Industrial output grew 0.3% year-on-year in August, easing from July’s 1.2% expansion. August’s softer rise was largely driven by weaker growth in manufacturing production, while mining and quarrying production contracted more sharply than in July.
On a seasonally-adjusted monthly basis, industrial production declined 0.5% in August, contrasting July’s 0.9% expansion. Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 3.8%, down from July’s minus 3.7%.
