Malaysia: Industrial output notches quickest growth since May 2021 in August
Industrial output increased 13.6% year on year in August (July: +12.5% yoy). August’s figure marked the best reading since May 2021. August’s upturn came on the back of pickups in manufacturing and mining and quarrying production.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production rebounded, rising 1.7% in August (July: -3.9% mom). Meanwhile, the trend improved, with the annual average growth of industrial production coming in at 6.9%, up from July’s 5.7%.
