Malaysia: Industrial output growth gains momentum in February

Industrial output rose 3.6% in year-on-year terms in February, which followed January’s 1.8% increase. The upturn was primarily driven by stronger output in the manufacturing and electricity and gas sectors.

On a monthly basis, industrial production grew 4.9% in seasonally adjusted terms in February, rebounding from January’s 2.4% fall and marking the best result since June 2022. Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth in February was stable at January’s 6.5%. This signals a stable trend in the industrial sector.
