Malaysia: Industrial activity deteriorates in August
Industrial output decreased 0.3% compared to the same month a year earlier in August, which contrasted July’s 0.7% increase. August’s weakening was partly due to a sharper contraction in manufacturing output. In addition, mining and quarrying production weakened.
On a monthly basis, industrial output rose 1.7% in seasonally adjusted terms in August, matching July’s expansion.. Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth fell to 2.6% in August (July: +3.6%), which marked an over two-year low.
