Latvia: Harmonized inflation falls to one-year low in April

Harmonized inflation fell to 15.0% in April, following March’s 17.2%. April’s figure represented the weakest inflation rate since April 2022. The slowdown was largely due to a softer increase in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages. In addition, price pressures for transportation dropped at a quicker rate.

The trend pointed up slightly, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 19.8% in April (March: 19.7%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 15.1% in April, from March’s 17.2%.

Lastly, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.40% in April over the previous month, which was below March’s 0.75% rise. April’s result marked the weakest reading since December 2022.
