Latvia: Economic sentiment drops in May
Latest reading: Economic sentiment fell to 97.4 in May, following April’s 98.0. The latest reading was below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy and the lowest since August 2025.
In May, sentiment darkened in the industrial sector (-4.3 vs -3.6 in April), the construction sector (-8.4 vs -5.4 in April) and among consumers (-15.8 vs -15.6 in April). On the flipside, sentiment turned more upbeat in the services sector (+1.6 vs +1.5 in April) and the retail sector (+3.1 vs +1.6 in April).
