Korea: Inflation comes in at highest level since March in September
Inflation came in at 3.7% in September, up from August’s 3.4%. September’s reading was the highest inflation rate since March. Looking at the details of the release, the change in prices for housing and utilities increased at a slower rate in September. In contrast, prices for transportation rebounded.
Annual average inflation edged down to 4.1% in September (August: 4.2%). Meanwhile, core inflation was unchanged, coming in at August’s 3.3% in September.
Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.59% over the previous month in September, slowing down from the 1.02% increase logged in August.
