Korea: Consumer confidence rises in January
Consumer confidence rose to 104.4 in January from December’s 103.8. As such, the index remained above the 100-point threshold, signaling consumers were optimistic.
Considering the sub-group components of consumer confidence: although households’ views on current domestic economic conditions turned more pessimistic, their outlook on economic conditions improved. In addition, prospects for employment opportunities ahead also improved, turning less pessimistic. Notably, consumers seemed slightly more upbeat regarding their future spending.
