Korea: Consumer sentiment further improves in July
The Bank of Korea’s composite consumer sentiment index rose to 84.2 in July, up from 81.8 in June. Nevertheless, the index still remains below the 100-threshold separating pessimism from optimism among consumers.
Consumer sentiment in July concerning current domestic economic conditions slightly improved over the previous month, while sentiment regarding future domestic economic conditions remained unchanged; both remained depressed. Additionally, consumers were slightly less pessimistic regarding future household income, while their assessment of future household spending also improved over the previous month.
