Korea: Manufacturing firms’ month-ahead sentiment increases in June
Month-ahead business confidence among manufacturing firms came in at 73.0 in June, up from May’s 72.0. June’s result marked the strongest sentiment since November 2022. However, the index remained entrenched below the 100-threshold, indicating pessimism among businesses.
For the third month running, month-ahead business sentiment rose among export-oriented manufacturing firms, with hopes likely rising that the current downturn in exports is coming to an end. On the other hand, for the first time in three months, month-ahead business sentiment fell among domestically-orientated firms.
