Kenya: Inflation rises to eight-month high in December
Consumer prices rose 0.90% over the previous month in December, up from November’s 0.41% increase and marking the highest reading since April. December’s print largely reflected marked increases in prices for transport as well as for food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Inflation rose to 5.8% in December from November’s 5.6%. Thus, inflation climbed further above the midpoint of the Central Bank’s 2.5%–7.5% target range. Lastly, annual average inflation came in at 5.2%, matching November’s reading.
