Kenya: Inflation comes in at highest level since January in September
Consumer prices rose a seasonally-adjusted 0.32% in September over the previous month, accelerating from August’s 0.23% rise. September’s uptick was the highest reading since April. Looking at the details of the release, transportation prices rose in September after dropping in the previous month, while price pressures for housing, utilities and fuel picked up pace.
Inflation came in at 6.9% in September, which was up from August’s 6.6%. September’s reading was the highest inflation rate since January. Annual average inflation edged up to 6.4% in September (August: 6.3%).
