Kazakhstan: Decline in industrial output softens in September

October 16, 2020

Industrial output decreased 3.5% in year-on-year terms in September, which was a less pronounced drop than August's 5.6% decrease. The energy and water supply, and mining and quarrying sectors all saw output decrease at a softer pace this month.

Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average growth of industrial production coming in at plus 1.4%, down from August's 2.0% reading.

FocusEconomics panelists project industrial production to shrink 1.7% in 2020, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. In 2021, they see it expanding 3.0%, which is also unchanged from the previous month’s estimate.
