Italy: Decline in industrial output softens in October
Industrial output dropped 1.0% month-on-month in seasonally-adjusted terms in October (September: -1.7% mom). The reading reflected a broad-based upturn, with activity in the manufacturing, mining and quarrying and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning sub-sectors all improving in October.
On an annual basis, factory output fell at a more pronounced rate of 1.6% in October (September: -0.5% yoy), the worst result since January. Accordingly, the trend pointed down, with the annual average growth of industrial production coming in at 1.7% in October, down from September’s 2.0%.
