Israel: Inflation eases in June from May

Latest reading: Consumer prices increased 1.6% on a year-on-year basis in June, following a 1.9% rise in the previous month. June’s reading was the weakest since May 2021.

Relative to the previous month’s data, there were milder price pressures for food (+1.5% on a year-on-year basis vs +1.8% in May), transportation and communication (-0.3% vs +0.8% in May) and education, culture and entertainment (+1.4% vs +1.5% in May). In contrast, price pressures were higher for clothing and footwear in June (-5.9% vs -6.7% in May).

Meanwhile, core consumer prices rose 1.6% on a year-on-year basis in June, following a 1.8% rise in the prior month.

Lastly, consumer prices flatlined in June on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.29% decline in the prior month.
