Indonesia: Retail sales record lowest growth since May 2023 in April
Retail sales grew 0.1% year on year in April (March: +9.3% yoy). The result marked the lowest reading since May 2023 and was primarily due to weaker food, beverages, and tobacco sales. In addition, automotive fuels sales lost pace. Lastly, cultural and recreation goods sales decreased at a sharper rate, while information and communication equipment sales decreased at a softer pace than in the previous month.
Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average growth of retail sales coming in at 2.3%, down from March’s 2.5% reading.
