Indonesia: Retail sales return to growth in July
Latest reading: Retail sales increased 0.9% on a year-on-year basis in July, following a 3.0% fall in the previous month.
Relative to the prior month’s data, the reading for food, beverages, and tobacco improved in July (+1.6% on a year-on-year basis vs -3.6% in June). In contrast, readings softened for motor vehicles, parts and accessories (+10.8% vs +18.8% in June), automotive fuels (-3.6% vs -1.4% in June), information and communication equipment (-20.8% vs -20.2% in June) and cultural and recreation goods (-10.5% vs -6.2% in June).
