Indonesia: Inflation rises in June
Latest reading: Consumer prices increased 3.3% in annual terms in June, following a 3.1% jump in the prior month and remaining within Bank Indonesia’s 1.5–3.5% target range.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were higher price pressures for transport (+4.6% vs +2.3% in May), recreation and entertainment (+1.4% vs +1.3% in May) and clothing and footwear (+1.0% vs 0.8% in May). Meanwhile, price pressures eased for food, beverages and tobacco (+4.7% vs +4.9% in May). Finally, the variation in housing, water, electricity and household fuel prices was the same as in the prior month (+1.0% in annual terms in May and June).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices increased 2.8% on a year-on-year basis in June, following a 2.6% rise in the prior month.
Lastly, consumer prices were up 0.43% in June in month-on-month terms, following a 0.27% increase in the prior month.
