Indonesia: Inflation stabilizes in August
Inflation remained at 2.1% in August, unchanged from July’s figure. August’s result marked the joint-lowest inflation rate since February 2022. Looking at the details of the release, prices for transportation, clothing and footwear, and recreation grew at a stronger pace, while price pressures for food plus housing and utilities ticked down from July’s rate.
The trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 2.6% in August (July: 2.8%). Meanwhile, core inflation was unchanged, coming in at July’s 2.0% in August.
Lastly, consumer prices dropped 0.03% over the previous month in August, a smaller decrease than the 0.18% drop seen in July.
