India: Inflation drops to lowest level since April in July
Consumer prices increased 0.18% from the previous month in September, decelerating from August’s 0.25% increase. Looking at the details of the release, food and beverages prices rebounded in September compared to the previous month and price pressures for fuel and light intensified.
Inflation eased to 4.3% in September from August’s 5.3%. September’s result represented the weakest inflation rate since April. Accordingly, the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 5.5% in September (August: 5.7%).
