United States: Inflation increases in September
Consumer prices increased a seasonally-adjusted 0.41% in September over the previous month, accelerating from the 0.27% rise seen in August. The pick-up was broad-based, with greater price pressures recorded for housing, transportation, and food.
Inflation edged up to 5.4% in September, above August’s 5.3%. Annual average inflation rose to 3.3% in September (August: 3.0%). Lastly, core inflation was unchanged, coming in at August’s 4.0% in September.
