India: Inflation rises in June from the prior month
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 4.4% in annual terms in June, following a 3.9% rise in the prior month. June’s reading was the strongest since December 2024.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, there were higher price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+5.1% on a year-on-year basis vs +4.5% in May), transportation (+5.0% vs +4.5% in May) and clothing (+3.2% vs +3.0% in May).
Finally, consumer prices rose 1.03% in June on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.75% rise in the prior month.
