India: Inflation stabilizes in July
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 4.4% in annual terms in July, matching the prior month’s print. July’s reading was the joint-strongest since December 2024.
Relative to the prior month’s figures, there were higher price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+5.2% on a year-on-year basis vs +5.1% in June), transportation (+5.2% vs +5.0% in June) and clothing (+3.4% vs +3.2% in June).
Finally, consumer prices rose 0.88% in July on a month-on-month basis, following a 1.03% rise in the prior month.
