Hong Kong: Retail sales rise for the first time since January 2019 in February
Retail sales jumped 30.0% in year-on-year terms in February, after falling 13.7% in January. Looking at the details of the release, February’s rise was broad-based, with clothing and footwear, jewellery and fuel sales all increasing robustly in the month.
Meanwhile, the trend improved, with the annual average variation of retail sales coming in at minus 17.0%, up from January’s minus 23.4% reading.
